SUPER DEMOCRACY - The Senate of Things

Three cultural institutions enter into a dialogue with the Belgian Senate during the exhibition SUPERDEMOCRACY, which is on display throughout October. BPS22 in Charleroi, BOZAR in Brussels and M HKA in Antwerp provide a cultural dimension to the Senate’s current issues.

Sans titre (mains chaudes), 1990-1994
Photography , 225 x 160 cm

Sans titre is taken from a series of four photographs, evoking, through subjects as diverse as the hands of children playing the ‘hot hand’, a hole in the sand, two elbows protruding from of a pierced sweater and a child's skull, the central notions of sculpture, which are void and fullness, the texture of materials, heat and cold, and so on. Repositioned in this room, dedicated to solidarity, this children's game becomes the metaphor of a social organisation based on responsibility and sharing.
