Narcisse Tordoir
This work represents a defining moment in the oeuvre of Narcisse Tordoir. The artist constantly calls his own artistic practice into question. For 'Untitled', he takes on 'painting' itself. The collection, treatment and reworking of elements from daily life, and giving them their own spot on the canvas formed its basis. Tordoir treated found objects with black latex paint, thus neutralizing the respective elements into forms that he manually copied onto canvas. By placing the original objects right alongside, a reality and a representation of that reality are simultaneously created.
