Narcisse Tordoir
Narcisse Tordoir's own figure regularly emerges in his collages and paintings, a sort of objectivizing of himself as artist. This self-portrait is a component of a piece based on the Spanish Master Goya's famous series of aquatint engravings *Los Caprichos*. *Los Caprichos*(The Caprices) is the name given to the collection of 80 etchings made by Spanish artist Francisco Goya in 1797 and 1798. [*Los Caprichos*](http://www.gasl.org/refbib/Goya__Caprichos.pdf) was intended as an artistic experiment by which Goya wished to condemn the universal folly of Spanish society of the day.
