In 80 dagen rond de wereld - around the world in 80 days Weber - Madrid - Weber, 1993
When carrying out a spatial analysis, Luc Deleu regards it as the duty of the architect to use social, geographical and demographic information about the whole planet as his starting point. For this reason, Deleu has re-christened urbanism ‘orbanism’. As a self-confessed ‘orbanist’, the artist attaches great importance to get a grip on the scale of the earth. Out of this came the idea of travelling around the world. Deleu chooses Madrid as the starting point for his journey because, unusually, there is also land on exactly the opposite side of the world from here. Around the world in 80 days suggests pathways for exploring the world.
